Starwood is offering Great Weekends from January 3 through April 15, 2011: double Starpoints on all stays and 500 bonus Starpoints per night for every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night stayed. There’s no limit to the points earned under the promo.
It looks like about 10% of Starwood’s properties aren’t participating in the promo.
Registration will be required, but won’t be available until the start of the promo on January 3.
A really nice points bonanza for folks making weekend stays, though not as potentially lucrative as free nights offers.
Update: It turns out this promo was all that was ‘next’ — all the recent speculation about something big for SPG notwithstanding. C’mon, folks, don’t tease us that way!
Do I need to rebook to qualify? Because I have a stay at the BKK 4P on a rate that is long gone…
I guess I’ll take it, but does such a modest promo really incentivize anybody to book a Starwood weekend?
Generally it is an average promo. I really don’t get the buildup that was done beforehand with “What’s Next?”

Pretty weak — the key in customer service is to underpromise and overdeliver. Hats down to SPG for overpromising and underdelivering.
This promo is just so-so, good but not great. Now I want to know what Hyatt’s promo will be. I’m both Hyatt Diamond and SPG PLAT and probably will choose to requalify for only 1 this year. Whichever has the better promos (probably determined by their Q1 promo) will be the one I stick with for years to come… Hyatt, any chance you’ll bring back Free Nights? 🙂 🙂 🙂
