Four Amazing Award Redemptions Thanks to 2 Bank Programs Offering Transfer Bonuses at the Same Time
A couple of days ago I wrote about Delta One business class suites to Asia for as little as 47,000 points each way with availability for 4 or more and sometimes even 9 passengers per flight.
Now two transferable points programs are running transfer bonuses to Virgin at the same time. In addition to a 30% bonus transferring American Express Membership Rewards points to Virgin Atlantic through July 1, points transfers from Citi ThankYou Rewards to Virgin Atlantic receive a 30% bonus through June 22.
The Ability to Pay for Southwest Airlines Tickets With Chase Points is Back
You can use Chase Ultimate Rewards points for Southwest Airlines award tickets. You can do this either by transferring Chase points from a Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, or Ink Business Preferred Card to Southwest’s Rapid Rewards program, or by using Chase points directly to purchase the ticket.
For some time it hasn’t been possible to use Chase points to buy Southwest Airlines tickets. But the ability to do this over the phone is back.
Rumor: American Airlines Considering Bringing Back Seatback Entertainment for Domestic Fleet
The leaks coming out of American recently largely seem to be about making positive investments for customers and improving the travel experience. That’s certainly a departure from what we’ve seen over the past few years.
Award Alert: Delta One Suites to Asia for the Whole Family (As Low As 47,000 Points Each)
Delta saver award availability to Asia, especially for two or more passengers, can be challenging. Right now though availability for late fall and winter is outstanding on a variety of routes, for the whole family — in some cases 9 or more saver awards.
Specifically flights out of Detroit, Minneapolis, Seattle, Atlanta and Los Angeles are bookable to Tokyo and to China (from Shanghai connecting options on China Eastern are good as well) for November through March.. Notably availability on the Detroit – Beijing, LA – Shanghai, and LA – Tokyo Haneda routes means flying Delta’s business class suites.
Star Alliance’s EVA Air is an Underappreciated Mileage Transfer Partner
Good availability in business class to Asia from 75,000 miles one way without significant add-on fees is worth paying attention to. There are worthwhile Star Alliance (Europe and Mideast especially) and round-the-world awards, too.
Business Class Fare Deal: New York, LA or DC to Moscow From $1650 Roundtrip (Star Alliance Airlines)
Business class fares are available from several US cities – including New York, DC, and Los Angeles – to Moscow from $1650 roundtrip.
Maybe you weren’t satisfied with the Mueller report and want to conduct your own on-the-ground investigation. Or you’ve always wanted to trace your family’s roots back to the Tsar. Either way this is one of the best sale fares I’ve seen to Russia.
Even Without an Award Chart Delta Can Still Overcharge Members Redeeming Miles
Recently Delta started adding surcharges to Virgin Atlantic awards in premium economy. Delta has acknowledged this was a mistake. They’ve fixed it — stopped charging miscellaneous surcharges on Virgin Atlantic premium economy awards departing the U.S. — and they’re refunding SkyMiles members that already paid it.
Great Availability for ANA First Class Awards
ANA has offered the best award availability during winter. Tokyo Narita is a great place to connect onward in Asia, but winter time is low season for Japan travel. As a result they’ve tended to make first class awards available January through March.
Southwest Flight Delayed Over a Vodka Joke
Southwest Airlines flight WN478 from Sacramento to Los Angeles last Wednesday was in the midst of a three and a half hour delay. First a maintenance light forced the aircraft to return to the gate, and later the airline determined they needed to refuel the aircraft.
Flight attendants passed out water to passengers. A passenger “said something [like], ‘They should be passing out vodka because we’ve been waiting so long.'” And that led to an even further delay.
