New Capital One Lounge Denver Opens Tomorrow

Capital One opened its first airport lounge at Dallas – Fort Worth in November 2021. Then they opened Washington Dulles in September. Now their third one – the Capital One Lounge Denver – will open tomorrow – Friday, November 3.

Details Of The Capital One Lounge Denver

The best things about Capital One lounges are:

  • the quality of the food – it’s actually worth trying
  • that they are set up for grab and go as well, with packages snacks and drinks near the entryway for a quick stop before a flight

The bar program is pretty good, too. I usually skip lounge cocktails but I’ve been happy trying some of the things on offer, or pouring my own soda and flavored water from their tap system. The Denver lounge has a coffee bar as well.

Here’s the menu, and the full food and beverage offerings (pdf).

Naturally design elements are inspired by the region, quality local purveyors are used to source food and beverages, and local artists are highlighted too. I care more about the quality than local elements here, but when sourcing in an airport the two go hand in hand since it means bringing in items that aren’t usually part of the airport’s program.

This lounge has relaxation rooms “with ceilings that mimic the nighttime Colorado sky” as well as work spaces and phone rooms, a nursing room, and two shower suites.

Accessing The Capital One Lounge Denver

Capital One Venture X and cardmembers (and anyone with an authorized user card on a Venture X account) gets unlimited visits to Capital One Lounges, along with two free guests. Additional guests are $45 per visit.

Venture X Business primary cardmembers get unlimited visits to Capital One Lounges, along with two free guests. Additional guests are $45 per visit.

Venture and Spark Miles cardmembers get two complimentary visits to Capital One Lounges or Plaza Premium Lounges each year, whether for themselves or for authorized users or guests. Additional guests are $45 per visit.

Anyone without one of these cards can pay into the lounge for $65 per visit. Children under two are not charged.

Access is available beginning three hours prior to your flight. Note that unlike most other lounges with similar rules (American Express, Delta) this isn’t 3 hours prior to the first flight in your itinerary. Technically if you have a long layover you’d have to wait until 3 hours prior to your connecting flight for access.

In my experience the 3 hour rule hasn’t really been enforced in Dallas. However this lounge may get more crowded. On the other hand it may also cater to fewer connecting passengers, who have to return to the main terminal and in most cases head back out to other terminals for connections. That could offset use). And if it’s more crowded they may lean more heavily into enforcing the 3 hour rule.

Lounge Hours

The Capital One lounge Denver is open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., however initial hours from November 3 – 12 will be more limited: just 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A Great Add For Denver

This is a great add for Denver airport which just added one of American’s new elevated clubs. The airport has a packed American Express Centurion lounge, and this should provide some relief (since there are people with access to both). I generally prefer Capital One’s food, and also how they manage crowds – virtual queueing and they don’t let so many people in at a time that the lounge feels packed once you’re inside. Usually when a lounge first opens it’s not so busy, too. Get in while the getting is good.

Meanwhile what I’m especially looking forward to is seeing the first of Capital One’s restaurant-style offerings, with Jose Andres Group, slated to go into Washington National and New York LaGuardia.

  1. How can we get some lounges to carry some Kosher food? Amex and now capital one have nice lounges, but the main part/food is wasted for Kosher keeping travelers. Is there any hope of such a thing happening (like the virgin lounge in JFK)?

  2. Understand they’re trying to move more upmarket (prime), but given the profile of most Capital One cardholders, if the economy ends up taking even a soft turn, I have to wonder if they’ll end up just giving up on their lounge project.

  3. Yes!!!! I flew IAD through Denver last month and missed it (escalators were still blocked off so couldn’t guage how ready it might be) and was getting worried when that when I’m planning to do it again later this month I’d miss out again. Now if all goes to plan I can hit the lounges three times in one trip. No shame in being way too excited than one should be about this news.

Thanks for all the updates on the openings — the radio silence from anywhere else about it was excruciating. We did it guys.

  4. I’ve been to Dallas location and loved it! Excited to checkout both locations. Wish they would bring cap one lounges to California airports!

  5. I am connecting through Denver Saturday morning. I was at FLL Escape Lounge on it’s day 2 of opening. I’m curious. I rarely connect through Denver or anywhere that I can use my Cap One benefit, so let’s hope for the best.

  6. You left off the most important item – location – which I understand is near Gate A-34.

That’s not too great for UA flyers who typically depart from B or C. But could be worse…

  7. United doesn’t operate any flights out of C. They operate mainly out of B and are expanding into A.

  8. I hope they continue to expand their lounges. I think a lot of frequent flyers feel the same way
