San Juan Airport Will Partially Re-Open Today — While St. Croix Will Be Closed for TWO WEEKS

Yesterday I wrote that San Juan’s airport was expected to re-open today but that would take some herculean efforts. Here’s what it looked like inside terminal B after the hurricane:

In fact San Juan airport will reopen today to commercial traffic. American Airlines shared that their first flight into San Juan will arrive from Miami at 8:45 a.m. and will bring TSA to re-open security checkpoints. Their first flight out of San Juan will depart for Miami at 10:55 a.m.

However the airport isn’t going to be fully open. According to the FAA the airport is closed to commercial flights from 5 p.m. until 7 a.m. (2100Z to 1100Z) with only military and hurricane relief flights allowed to operate.

St. Croix’s airport is expected to be closed until October 5 except for military and relief aircraft.

  1. I appreciate the update on the status of SJU opening and resuming a schedule of flights to and from the mainland. Your web site provides more info than any “official” SJU site does (shame on them).
