I’ve always liked Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles because they’ve been the most generous Star Allinace program over time offer status matches and the status lasts up to two years. In addition their award chart is downright cheap for many redemptions — whether using the Turkish Airlines award chart or the Star Alliance award chart.

What’s held me back from using the program much is that it isn’t a program for banking miles, and miles are hard to earn for US residents.

The Business Travel Coalition’s Kevin Mitchell apparently sent out an email criticizing Delta’s call for protectionism against Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar. And Delta sent out an email attacking back.

There are a lot of vested interests in this debate and each side tries to advance its commercial case, including by hiring experts to represent them in the court of public opinion. There are also facts.

Yesterday Delta suggested that a US News survey named SkyMiles the best frequent flyer program. It didn’t. US News named Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan as best frequent flyer program.

That’s ok – their fingers were crossed.

Details on Bank of American’s new premium Visa product, the Bank of America Premium Rewards credit card, are now out and confirmed. The card will launch next month.

And despite the way the bank is pitching the card, and the Wall Street Journal is covering it, this does not appear to be a competitor to the Platinum Card by American Express or Chase Sapphire Reserve. It’s not in the super premium card space.

A Singapore Girl visits famous spots in Singapore — Boat Quay, The Intan Peranakan Home Museum, River Safari, Haji Lane, Capitol Theatre and Gardens by the Bay — and demonstrates safety instructions along the way.

In fact in Asia Pacific, the Sheraton brand is strong. It signals quality. Sheratons are generally nicer than nearby Westins. The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is a true world class hotel, for instance.
