American’s New Flagship First Dining at LAX is the Best Lounge in the United States
The food is as good or better than what you’ll find at any other lounge in the United States. I’d probably wish for a bit more of a wine budget. However the seclusion in a busy airport cannot be matched by the other top lounges so to me that makes this one the best.
I realize it’s inconsistent to prize seclusion and wish for broader access at the same time, but it’s good enough that I wish more readers would be able to take advantage of it more often. That this is an American Airlines product is incredible.
Review: The New American Airlines Flagship Business Class Lounge at LAX
I’m impressed by the speed with which American has rolled out their Flagship lounges. They’re offering a high quality business class lounge product. The LAX lounge gets busy, but while I was there it wasn’t a madhouse. Food and beverage options, as well as showers, are quite good.
While I often skip the Admirals Club unless I need help with a reservation, it’s at least worth stopping in here if you’re eligible for a snack.

Cathay Pacific’s New DC Flight Wide Open Business Class Award Space for Whole Family
This will be Cathay Pacific’s longest flight, and the longest flight from Hong Kong. Cathay’s A350 has business class, premium economy, and coach but no first class.
Currently this flight has at least 5 business class award seats available pretty much every day.
Review: American Airlines Boeing 787-9 Business Class, Paris – Dallas
Ultimately I consider business class to be primarily about the seat, and that’s just where American shines. I prefer them over British Airways, Lufthansa, Delta (I haven’t yet flown the new Delta One suite headed mostly to Asia), KLM, and I prefer them of course over Air France’s angled A380s though not their reverse herringbone direct aisle access 777s.
They offer really good seats and functional internet. And my main meal really surprised me by how good it was. They’re also improving the bedding.
Big Singapore Airlines Changes: Paid Seat Assignments, Earn More Miles, New Upgrade Rules
Singapore Airlines has announced ‘new fare types’ that will go into effect January 20th.
They’re introducing higher award change fees, the elimination of upgrades on the cheapest premium economy and business class fares, and seat selection fees on the cheapest coach tickets. At the same time more economy fares will become upgradeable (at a higher mileage cost) and the cheapest coach fares will earn a lot more miles.
Vietnam’s ‘Bikini Airline’ 2018 Calendar is Out
VietJet’s CEO became Southeast Asia’s first self-made female billionaire last year. And the airline’s CEO sees bikini campaigns and onboard stunts as empowering, even feminist given conservative Vietnamese mores.
Review: American Airlines Flagship First Dining Miami
The exclusive experience is unquestionably nice. Flagship First Dining gives American one of the best lounge experiences in the U.S. You have to compare it to the Qantas first class lounge in LAX, for instance.
A leisurely and serene sit down meal in this lounge is the perfect way to start a long flight, skip the first meal service and go right to sleep especially for the 11 p.m. departures.
Cathay Pacific Launching New Longest Flight to Washington DC
Cathay Pacific is expected to announce new service from Hong Kong to Washington Dulles next week operated by an Airbus A350.
This clocks in at around the 12th longest flight in the world, as well as Cathay Pacific’s longest, the longest from Hong Kong, and the longest from Washington Dulles.
