A report suggests that American Express will be building out a new Centurion lounge at Washington’s National airport. It also notes significant planned expansion at both San Francisco and Seattle, which matches what I already know.

In The Middle Of A Pandemic, American Airlines Changes Terminals In San Francisco
On Tuesday American Airlines moved operations in San Francisco to the Harvey Milk Terminal, B side of terminal 1. This puts all of American Airlines in one terminal at the airport, instead of having the old US Airways gates a long walk away.
The new ticket counter location is between doors 3 and 4 of the terminal. Their gates are B22 – B27, which despite the move doesn’t give them room for growth. The opening date for the new Admirals Club, across from gate B13, hasn’t yet been announced.
Jennifer Garner Practicing Ballet On A San Francisco Airport Moving Walkway
Some people like Jennifer Garner for her work in TV’s Alias while others appreciate her more for 13 Going On 30. She’s been described as ‘America’s Sweetheart’ though I just like her for endorsing the Capital One Venture card.
Ms. Garner has her own unique take on travel. For instance here’s how Jennifer Garner packs for a trip (she loves her sweatpants).
And put her on a moving walkway?
United Airlines Adds Several New Europe Flights and Makes West Coast – India Year-Round
It’s great to see the airline deploying their new premium-heavy 46 business class seat 767s aggressively, and not just out of Newark or even on pure business routes.
The new Polaris business class seat is a competitive advantage not because it’s better than what Delta, American, or Air France offer – or what British Airways or Virgin Atlantic will offer – it isn’t. It generally lags all of those. However they’re able to offer fully flat direct aisle access business class seats, attractively designed, using less cabin space. That allows them to fit more seats into the same footprint, or add seats without taking out as many from a lesser cabin.
San Francisco Airport Bans Sale of Plastic Water Bottles
In a nationwide first, the San Francisco airport has banned the sale of single-use plastic water bottles effective August 20th.
Flavored waters are exempt from the rule, which applies to “restaurants, cafes and vending machines” throughout the airport.
US Customs and Border Protection Will No Longer Require Mandatory ID Checks Getting Off Domestic Flights
On February 22, 2017 Delta flight DL1583 arrived at New York JFK from San Francisco and passengers were greeted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection demanding to see ID from everyone getting off the aircraft. Apparently they were looking for an individual who had been ordered to be deported.
Except that US CBP has no authority to do that.
The New British Airways San Francisco Lounge is Open (With Separate First Class Dining)
British Airways opened their refurbished lounge in San Francisco today after a six month closure. The lounge is in the international terminal between gates A4 and A6. You’re greeted at reception where your credentials for the lounge will be checked and then the lounge is down one level by elevator.
San Francisco Getting Hello Kitty Jet Service (But Los Angeles is Losing It)
There are special boarding passes and baggage stickers, Hello Kitty crew uniforms, and the seats are transformed into Hello Kitty with headrest covers and pillows. Meal service features utensilves, cups, and napkins that are Hello Kitty. The lavatories are stocked with themed toilet paper.
United Announces Significant New International Flying From San Francisco, Loses the Expectations Game
United has announced a significant increase in international flying from San Francisco. Since CEO Oscar Munoz was talking to press, and it was being touted as ‘historic’, speculation abounded.
Several new routes and additional flights have been announced — but not even a single new destination for United.
FARE ALERT: Several Cities – Even West Coast – to Europe From $263 Roundtrip
Right now there’s the lowest fare available that I’ve seen between the West Coast and Europe in awhile. You can fly San Francisco to London for as little as $263 roundtrip. And it’s not even a basic economy fare, it’s on Icelandair which gives you an advance seat assignment, a carry on bag at no extra charge.
But that’s not all, fares between the US and Europe are available from a variety of cities and on several airlines, each with a Google Flights link that’ll pull up a sample itinerary at the current lowest fare:
