Cabin Eggs On Flight Attendant To Open Lavatory Door While Passengers Join Mile High Club

Video emerged over the weekend of an easyJet flight in Europe where everyone realized that two passengers had gone into a lavatory together at the rear of the aircraft and were probably joining the Mile High Club.

The cabin egged on a flight attendant to open the door to the lav. And after enough cheering, he finally did it, showing the whole cabin that the passengers were, indeed, in the midst of the act. Realizing they were exposed, they quickly shut the door, while passengers cheered (and filmed).

The specific flight where this happened wasn’t noted, but flights on the low cost carrier can be booze-fueled and raucous. While joining the Mile High Club isn’t exactly common, it isn’t rare either.

It is, however, increasingly difficult on narrowbody aircraft with ‘space saver’-style lavatories that offer a whole let less room. That means extra points for degree of difficulty. Here’s a tip: easyJet aircraft generally have two lavatories near the back galley and both of those are smaller than the one at the front, which is the one you’d want to use for this.

It’s always struck me though that there’s nothing sexy about an airplane lavatory except on some premium Gulf and Southeast Asian carriers in Airbus A380 first class. There’s usually a line for the lavatory, too, so this won’t go unnoticed.

It’s noteworthy when it happens on board with celebrities, like the Victoria’s Secret model who got caught doing it, the supermodel indignant that her privacy is violated when other passengers watch her have sex with her girlfriend at her seat , Jamie Foxx bragging about it or American Airlines American Airlines losing rocker Tommy Lee’s luggage after he did it. British Airways actually promoted when Elizabeth Hurley did it.

Implausibly, a flight attendant once claimed that on a flight she worked two groups of passengers joined the mile high club and a pilot joined in. Oh, this was a short regional jet flight, too. There’s a lot of made up stories about the Mile High Club.

People have been joining the ‘Mile High Club’ since 1916 when Lawrence Burst Sperry, inventor of the autopilot, took a Curtis C-2 Flying Boat off the coast of Long Island and spent time with a woman whose husband was off in World War I. They acrashed the plane into the bay and were rescued – naked – by duck hunters.

  1. This is so vile, disgusting and makes me sick to my stomach.

    Flying EasyJet that is LOL

Although, it does seem to beat mostUS domestic flights these days…

  2. @Loren They were way out of line to go in there and do that in the first place. The FA couldn’t have exposed them if they hadn’t been in there.

  3. They probably didn’t know the door could be opened from the outside. A great bit of levity in an otherwise dreary day. Thanks, Gary.

  4. Why are humans so disgusting? Not a people fan which is why I don’t fly much anymore. I was part of that world for twenty -one years only to see it deteriorate on many levels.

  5. The headline is properly written, but I spent a while wondering what “cabin eggs” were and how the flight attendant would attempt to remove them.

  6. Judging by the amount of young women on that flight it was most likely a Hen Party excursion. I’m sure they all knew exactly what those two were up to.

  7. “The FA couldn’t have exposed them if they hadn’t been in there.” I would have written The FA couldn’t have exposed them if they hadn’t exposed themselves.

  8. “Encouraged” is a bit classier than “egged on”

Sounds like a fun flight with like minded individuals, so whats the harm ?

I’m jealous of the male as he’s got more equipment than I to score in that position.

Other than comic relief, I does seem odd to be on a blog that leads thought in airfares, capacity, routes, staffing issues, proposed legislation, market share, ATC woes, etc.

  9. So what. Live and let live. They were not bothering anyone. Let them be and enjoy. No reason for judgement. Too much of that in the world today.

You could say the same thing about the maid opening your hotel room door–is it your fault for having sex in your hotel room? You could make a case for the FA having committed indecent exposure. (It’s the act of exposing the genitals that’s the crime even if they’re not your genitals that you’re exposing.)

Sex is a natural and healthy behavior. If the couple behaved wrongly it was only in hogging the bathroom and that’s only an issue if there weren’t other empty ones.

  11. FA was wrong to open the door. The expectation of privacy while in a flying porta-john should not have been violated. Not saying the couple was acting appropriately, but the FA’s action was criminal, and the rest of the mob should have been…well, I don’t know how they should have been dealt with nor by whom, but they were assholes for treating the Casanova-couple with so little humanity and decent regard.

  12. Last time I checked, having sex in private isn’t a crime. In this context it could be in poor taste if others needed the lav.

I can’t understand how people are defending the FA. Opening the door is tantamount to sexual assault in my book. Simply having sex doesn’t negate ones reasonable expectation of privacy behind a locked door. What would you be saying if some strange man was running around the local mall forcibly stripping people naked?

Hopefully the FA got a broken jaw AND a pinkslip for his behaviour. The couple were lacking in judgement but he was so far out of line to be criminal

  13. Pics or it didn’t happen. Even Tim Dunn would like to see this. Also to the haters, this is fun content. It’s better than “ERHMAGERD NO PDB”

  14. What’s vile about this is the where, not the what. This is the place where people defecate, change tampons, pee, vomit.etc.
I can’t believe anyone would want to bonk in the lavatory. EasyJet indeed.

And especially to the extent it was, showing the whole plane what was going on. If there’s a need to open the door be discreet about it!

I find “sexual assault” to be too strong a term for it but I agree with the basic concept. It is a completely unacceptable violation of privacy. I don’t know the laws where this happened, in the US it could enter felony territory if there were any minors on the plane.

    @Steven:
    > Its likely the sex couple were part of the fun bunch. Lighten up, Francis

While I agree that they are most likely part of the group that doesn’t justify the action.

    1) We have no evidence that they would consider it an acceptable prank.

    2) We have at least one person present who is certainly not part of the group: the FA. Unless it’s a charter I would expect there were other passengers who weren’t part of the group, also.

Note that I’m not being a prude about this, I would not have been offended to witness it, it wouldn’t have been a big deal to me if I was the guy. However, I know others who would be very upset.
