Two days after the protests and riot at the U.S. Capitol, John Lolos had boarded a Delta flight at Washington National airport. The plane was taxiing out, but the pilot decided to return to the gate because he was reportedly yelling “Trump 2020!” Airport police met the aircraft at the gate.
The man was rebooked by Delta, but police later arrested them because something of something they saw on Instagram: the man’s shirt.
As Sunday’s Spirit Airlines flight NK646 from Detroit to Atlanta was boarding at gate D15 a gate agent stopped a passenger to check the size of their bag. The passenger objected and words became physical, turning into an “all out brawl” of passengers attacking airline employees.
TSA reported travel numbers remain low compared to last year. We’re all hopeful that vaccination, combined with the sheer number of people who have recently had Covid-19, will suppress the pandemic and bring about a return to normal life soon. In the meantime we make do.

Passengers from all over flew to DC this past week on American Airlines, Delta, Southwest and others to protest – and some to riot – at the Capitol. Many were maskless, some were kicked off flights. Others harassed Mitt Romney on the way to DC (and on the way home, harassed Lindsey Graham). Still others projected “TRUMP 2020” onto the ceiling of their aircraft. And others sat peacefully.
But Dallas-area realtor and radio host Jenna Ryan took a private plane. And this was all because – with no self-awareness of having flown private to DC – “they’re taking everything” away from her. Now she’s been arrested, and is asking the President for a pardon, because she’s the real victim here.
Since midday Sunday people were sharing to social media a video purportedly showing someone who attended the storming of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday being denied boarding on Delta Air Lines because he had been added to the government’s No Fly List.
However the person checked in, went through security and was denied boarding at the gate. And the person who posted the original video didn’t claim the No Fly List had anything to do with it.
Delta Air Lines reportedly removed passengers from a flight departing Washington National airport, after riots at the Capitol last week, “because they was having a private conversation about supporting President Trump.” We have video of the passengers leaving, and from in the terminal after their removal.
Passengers on board American Airlines flight AA1242 from Washington National to Phoenix broke out in chants of “USA! USA!” at the start of the flight. The captain came on to announce a warning: zero tolerance for inflight shenanigans, or he’d be diverting enroute.
The chants were captured by a passenger who finds it ‘un-American’ to object to the onboard demonstration.
