Have American Airlines Status? Hyatt Will Give You 90 Days Of Status Free (And Quick Path To Keep It)

Basically identical to a promotion they ran a year ago American Airlines AAdvantage status members can register for 90 days of elite status with Hyatt, with an expedited path towards keeping or increasing that status next year.

  • Register by November 30
  • Receive 90 days of Explorist status
  • AAdvantage Gold and Platinum members can stay 10 nights to keep Explorist through February 2025
  • AAdvantage Platinum Pro and Executive Platinum members can stay 10 nights to keep Explorist or 20 nights to receive Globalist status through February 2025

Oddly the terms and conditions say that ConciergeKey members are eligible for this promo, alongside Platinum Pro and Executive Platinum members, however they already receive complimentary Globalist status.

The requirements to keep and upgrade status are a little bit rich, since 10 nights in 90 days annualizes to 40 nights, while Explorist usually requires just 30 nights, and 20 nights annualizes to 80 while Globalist requires 60.

You can register any time until November 30, 2022 – so you should wait until you need the status to register. That’s because you’ll maximize the 90 day period with status, and also the window in which your stays can help you requalify. Remember that free night award stays count and also that you can transfer points from Chase or Bilt Rewards to Hyatt.

Explorist status is weak for a hotel chain mid-tier level, but it’s certainly better than not having status. It entitles you to 2 p.m. guaranteed late check-out at non-resort/convention properties, and to upgrades (excluding suites).

Comped and challenged status doesn’t come with night-based benefits like confirmed upgrades. Earning Globalist through a challenge won’t receive confirmed suite upgrades or a Hyatt concierge.

Note that check-out date is what matters for qualifying nights to count (you need to check out before your 90 days of status expires to have a stay count) and you can do this again even if you did it a year ago – terms of the offer say these offers are limited to once per calendar year.

Sadly MGM midweek no show stays no longer work, since though there are still a few weeks left in the Hyatt-MGM partnership, MGM no longer allows those crediting a stay to Hyatt to check in via app.

At the end of last year, Hyatt elites received an American Airlines status challenge and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that repeated in a few months.

  1. It shows February 2024 in the language i received. Not sure if that is a typo or not.

“Stay 10 qualifying nights during your promotion period at any participating hotel to earn Explorist status or 20 qualifying nights to earn Globalist status that will last through February 2024.”
