The Hyatt Place Salt Lake City Airport charges a mandatory food and restaurant fee equal to 8.75% of your room rate. This is literally a fee for your free breakfast, and to pay for a restaurant that does not exist.
Hilton Is Out With A New Promotion, And You Should Register For It
You should register, because it’s right in front of you and you won’t remember to do it later.
Even if you don’t think you’ll have Hilton stays during the promotion period, you might, and 2,000 or 4,000 points is better than not 2,000 or 4,000 points. You shouldn’t shift your choice of hotel chasing this promotion, but you should pick up the extra points for stays you’re going to make anyway.

Delta Air Lines 757 Hit By Aeromexico Jet While Waiting To Take Off From Mexico City
The Delta flight to New York JFK was hit between two taxiways as the Aeromexico plane’s wing tip impacted Delta’s horizontal stabilizer. The two aircraft returned to their gates, with both aircraft taken out of service.
United Airlines Launching Massive Growth To Australia And New Zealand
United Airlines is the largest U.S. international carrier, the largest Pacific carrier, and is doubling down on being the largest U.S. airline between Australia and New Zealand by adding several new routes and increasing capacity on several of their existing routes. They were unique among peers in not suspending service to Australia during the pandemic, and with partnerships with Air New Zealand and now Virgin Australia they’re able to connect passengers Down Under as well as across the United States.
Shirtless American Airlines Passenger Trashes Gate When He Learns He Can’t Have A Window Seat
Another passenger shot video of the man, now shirtless and with pants hanging down below the top of his underwear, as he paced back and forth to the boarding door and began trashing the gate area. He toppled the sign where people line up in group numbers to board.
He got in more than one employee’s face, and ranted at no one in particular in the C12 gate area… before officers responded to arrest him.
Plus-Sized Influencer Demands Free Extra Seats From Airlines
A change.org petition from plus-sized activist and influencer Jaelynn Chaney demanding that the FAA require airlines to offer multiple seats for free to passengers who don’t fit into a standard seat is gaining thousands of signatures.
She reports that on a United Express regional jet flight from Pasco, Washington to Denver she was “subjected to hateful comments” which is sad, and she had just a single seat with immovable armrests on another flight which was very uncomfortable. And so she wants FAA action.

[LAUNCHES MAY 10] JetBlue Introducing New 4-Level Elite Program, Plus Start Earning Benefits Before Achieving Status
I love the choice benefits. I love that more activity than just flying counts towards status. And they’ve simplified elites receiving confirmed extra legroom seats. They’re finally introducing meaningful elite upgrades as well. Since benefits aren’t really based on waitlist or status priority, though, higher tiers seem a bit thin to me. 15,000 bonus points as a choice benefit at each level helps a little bit, but I’d like to see higher bonus point amounts at higher tiers.
Still, the path to Mosaic 1 is rich enough that I’m not bothered by requiring $50,000 in credit card spend to get there (and it’s about right at $5000 in travel spend). At the same time I don’t love the revenue-based rather than trip-based nature of the new program for those who do earn status by flying. I think they get plaudits for trying something interesting, even if they’re not first down this path. And they’re offering richer benefits than they ever have before.
LifeMiles Transfer Issues Have Been Fixed
Avianca LifeMiles is a popular Star Alliance frequent flyer program for U.S. members because they sell miles inexpensively on a regular basis, and because you can transfer points into their program from several different credit card currencies. They have generally reasonable redemption pricing and no fuel surcharges, though getting customer service when things go wrong can be challenging at times. There was a problem many members were experiencing this month where points would be transferred to the LifeMiles program, it would look to the bank program that the miles transfer went through, but account balances didn’t update. The program says this is solved. Daniel Paredes from LifeMiles shares with me that, The issue was related to some members who transferred points from other loyalty programs (such as Amex Rewards, Citi Thankyou Points, etc) to LifeMiles…
