After Only 3 Days, The Chase Sapphire LaGuardia Lounge Already Has A Line To Get In
The Chase Sapphire Lounge at New York LaGuardia airport only just opened on Tuesday. Usually it takes awhile for new lounges to get crowded because word of mouth has to spread that the lounge even exists. This one is 22,000 square feet – twice the size of the nearby American Express Centurion lounge. And the existence of both in the same terminal should help spread out the crowding.
And yet there’s already queueing to get into this new Chase lounge!
What’s Different Now That The Airline Industry No Longer Considers Newark A New York Airport?
Whether or not ‘Newark airport’ is really New York has been a top of some controversy since 1934, when New York City’s mayor Fiorello La Guardia pulled a stunt refusing to get off of a TWA flight from Chicago at Newark airport because his ticket said his destination was New York. He demanded to be flown to New York. The end result was LaGuardia airport.
This LaGuardia Airport Restroom Cleaner’s Pride In His Work Is Everything
Restrooms are often the most important place in an airport for passengers. They’re the first place many people visit when they’re departing on a trip, and even more often the last place they stop before departing the airport when they land. But they’re often run down and dirty. Nowhere has that been more the case than airports managed by the Port Authority of New York New Jersey. Yet LaGuardia has had a massive facelift.
And in a real turnaround, prior to the pandemic a restroom in New York LaGuardia’s terminal B was called the best public restroom in America. Now that Delta’s terminal C is open, it has the advantage of being both a little bit newer – and of employing this man who takes pride in his work keeping it clean and sharing his confidence in cleanliness with passengers.
Passengers On These Delta Flights Are Only Permitted to Spend 35 Minutes In The Lounge – Or Less
The new Delta Sky Club at New York LaGuardia is now only open until 7:30 p.m. But did you know that 7 Delta flights from New York now only allow lounge access for 35 minutes – or less?
To limit lounge crowding Delta won’t allow passengers into a lounge until 3 hours prior to departure of the first flight on their itinerary. In addition, several additional limits on club access go into effect next month as well.

LaGuardia Departures Shut Down When FAA Reported The FBI Lost A Fugitive Inside The Airport
A ground stop for all departures from New York LaGuardia was put in place Wednesday evening, though arrivals were allowed to continue, because the FAA believed that the FBI had “lost track of a fugitive” who was “now loose in the airport”.
Watch: Tug Get Stuck Underneath An American Airlines Boeing 737 At LaGuardia Airport
The American Airlines Boeing 737-800, came in from Miami on Monday night. It was scheduled to fly as American Airlines 2036 from New York LaGuardia to Charlotte on Tuesday morning. That didn’t quite happen.
Instead, a tug got caught underneath the aircraft. It’s amazing and cringeworthy to watch at the same time. Thankfully everyone involved is ok.
United Airlines Will Run 32 New York-DC Flights A Day To Squat Their Slots
New York LaGuardia, New York JFK and Washington National airports are ‘slot controlled’. That means there are limits on the number of takeoffs and landings at each airport, and the right to use those have been given (free!) to incumbent airlines as a property right. That’s a huge subsidy to incumbent carriers.
Normally slots come with ‘use it or lose it’ rules. If an airline doesn’t make use of their slots 80% of the time, those slots can be reassigned to another carrier. As a result you’ll see airlines flying more or less ghost flights, service designed to hold the slot rather than meet any economic need.
A Trick That May Save You Money On Uber At New York LaGuardia
A friend had given me a tip that if you wait to request an Uber until you’re actually in the garage where you meet your ride, you’ll often pay $20 less for the same trip. That seemed odd, but I decided to give it a try.
