It appears these issues were written up in August, though they’re just now coming to light. Fortunately this club’s kitchen is undergoing renovation and it does seem as though those things could be connected – or at least they’re a fortunate coincidence.

Outrage: Philadelphia Airport Adds Hidden 3% Surcharge To Every Purchase
The Philadelphia airport made a decision this year to allow concessions operators to charge passengers more than their posted prices. They’re now allowed to add a 3% surcharge onto whatever you buy.
Why Philadelphia Is No Substitute For New York As An American Airlines Hub
New Yorkers are left with less competition, one less viable competitor and an airline shifting its focus to “Filthadelphia.”
But New York wasn’t a distraction from Philadelphia, it was a better place to focus limited resources that did not work out – in part because of a change in administration, part because of whom they drew as a judge, and part because of JetBlue’s deal to buy Spirit that came after. Philadelphia on its own may even work to some degree, but ultimately Philadelphia is not New York.
American Airlines Will Drop New York JFK-Doha, Add Service From Philadelphia
American Airlines has stopped selling its New York JFK – Doha flight after October 28th. This flight is how American shuttles passengers to places like Lahore, Islamabad, and Dhaka – connecting them onto Qatar Airways. But American’s circumstances have changed in New York, and they’ll be shifting Doha flights to their Philadelphia hub starting October 29.
Savage: Union Leader Tells American Airlines Pilots, ‘Go Get A Job At Delta’
The American Airlines operation was taken down by bad labor relations in the summer of 2019. Mechanics weren’t fixing planes, and writing up minor issues, causing rampant cancellations. The two sides came to an agreement on a contract just before the pandemic, and things have been running smoothly.

Raccoon At Philadelphia Airport Steals Candy While Passengers Wait At Retail Shop’s Self-Checkout
Employees at Philadelphia’s airport refer to the place as Filthadelphia. Birds are known to roam freely there.

Philadelphia Airport Makes Passengers Pay To Charge Their Devices Before A Flight?
Philadelphia is a generally poor airport. Some airline employees even call it Filthadelphia. And the airport can’t seem to even provide basic services to passengers without an upcharge – like outlets?
Two Pigeons Forced To Deplane American Airlines Flight In Phiadelphia
There’s apparently a pigeon nest on the jet bridge at Philadelphia’s American Airlines gate A11. Cabin crew say they reported it “a month ago” but nothing was done.
Video shows a couple of pigeons making their way down the aisle of an American Airlines Airbus A321 as flight attendants encouraged them to deplane.
Philadelphia’s Mask Rules Still Apply At The Airport – But Not All The Terminals Are In Philadelphia
Philadelphia recently re-imposed an indoor mask mandate, and as a result the Philadelphia airport announced that it still requires masks in order to comply.
Except not all of the Philadelphia airport is under the jurisdiction of Philadelphia. Terminals A East and A West (along with two runways, and gates end the end of the B Concourse) are actually in Delaware County,
Spirit Airlines Makes A Run At Philadelphia After American Leaves Its Hub Undefended
Mid-year Spirit Airlines announced a big expansion in Miami, an American Airlines hub, becoming the second largest airline there. Traditionally they had stuck with lower-cost Fort Lauderdale.
Now they’re making a run at American’s hub in Philadelphia. They’ve just announced 7 new routes, increased service to another and flights to 20 total destinations. Spirit and Frontier together are the next two largest airlines in Philadelphia after American.
