‘They Told Me to Dispute It’: Passenger Stranded After United Let Someone Steal Their Ticket, Check A Bag And Fly

A United Airlines passenger was supposed to fly from New York LaGuardia to Chicago O’Hare on Friday but couldn’t because their ticket got used by someone else first.

They discovered this when their trip got changed to a flight about five hours earlier. They report that United told them they’d requested the change, and when it was discovered to be an unauthorized change they were told they’d get rebooked (traveling on Monday).

Delta’s 100-Year Celebration Overlooks This Key Detail: The Airline Started in 1926

Delta says that 2025 is its 100th birthday. Other than simply deferring to their marketing, I’m not so sure that’s fair. The claim to 1925 stems from the founding of the world’s first agricultural crop-dusting company, Huff Daland Dusters. That wasn’t an airline! The Delta name was adopted in 1928 and passenger service began in 1929. But they still have a good claim to being founded in 1926. However 1925 is a stretch.

On December 25, 2024, Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243, an Embraer ERJ-190 aircraft, crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, during an attempted emergency landing. The flight, carrying 62 passengers and five crew members, was enroute from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Grozny, Russia, when it diverted to Aktau due to adverse weather conditions.
